Carroll Gymnastics is currently celebrating 30 years of tumbling fun! In the fall of 1979, founder Greg Becker opened the doors to Carroll Gymnastics Center. The program was Carroll Gymnastics Center, with host The Westminster Walkovers. It began at Westminster High School, with practices on Saturday afternoons and two nights a week at the Multipurpose Center on Center Street. There was no spring floor at the time, instead the floor consisted of two rows of panel mats which the team members and class participants would share. A part of the Recreation and Parks program of Westminster, CGC moved all of its workouts into the Multipurpose Center, filling the schedule with many classes and competitive team practices.
In 1992, CGC relocated to the old Hampstead Elementary School building, where it stayed for a few short years, and then returned to the Multipurpose Center in Westminster. In 2003, the gymnastics program moved again and is now located in the Four Seasons Sports Complex in Hampstead, Maryland.
The current CGC Director, Cathy Phillips, grew up competing for Carroll Gymnastics. She has many exciting memories of CGC over the years and the program has always been an important part of her life.
Continuing the tradition in Carroll County for 30 years, Carroll Gymnastics thrives on encouraging and teaching children the excitement of gymnastics!
